Mobile Devices

Each month I am seeing more and more of the traffic coming to my websites from mobile devices.  iPhone, iPads, smart phones, cellular network devices.  So I think it is about time most companies start to consider offering mobile versions of their websites.  Mobile versions of a website will create a better user experience and will keep mobile users on your website longer and are more likely to convert in to a purchase or revealing their contact information so that they can be marketed to in the future.

A mobile website would consist of a cut down version of your existing website with lest content per page and likely less content overall.  Skipping high resolution pictures and pages that require a larger page format.  This is likely good for conversion anyway as when people get on these mobile sites, there is less clutter and you can lead then to conversion much easier.

Consider starting a mobile site today that will lead to capitalizing in these new devices.  In the last 30 days 15% of my traffic has come from mobile devices.  Last year during the same time it was 4.5%, over a 3x jump.  Mobile is here to stay and it is growing.

Should You Care About SEO

I was reading an article the other day that said to stop caring about SEO and just keep providing quality content and social networking is the way to go.  Well I will say this will obviously drive some traffic to your website, but is it going to sustain growth in your web traffic?  No way!  These methods will drive traffic, but the main issue is that you can only drive so much traffic on your own.  Expanding your network and stuff like that might be interesting, but it is search that will drive new users day after day.

It is people who aren’t optimized that think it is a waste.  As I said in the first article, I am not going to focus on SEO or SEO tactics, but this type of hogwash needs to be dispelled quickly.  SEO your site, get rankings and that will drive traffic.  Asking hundreds of people to be your friend that have no interest in you in an effort to get them to come to your blog.  Well, good luck with that.  I will stick with seach and targeted people coming to my site who are actually looking for my stuff.

SEO your site, be smart.  Listen to Cutts advise, don’t black-hat!

Internet Marketing Blog

This new blog will discuss internet marketing topics.  This is not an search engine optimization blog.  We will not focus on the tactics of getting a top ranking on Google, Yahoo, Bing or any other search engine.  This will be a business discussion about internet marketing.

We will discuss business topics such as revenue, profit, return on investment and other business concerns about internet marketing and how it will actually effect your business.  There is little concern for top search engine rankings if you cannot turn that in to revenue and profit, this blog will focus on that.

Our next blog post will be about pay per click internet marketing and how it can effect your business and how to best position your business profits in the pay per click world.  Check back soon for this post as it will allow you to instantly put money in your pocket.
